Romancing the Monarch – Learning how to care for the Monarch through its life cycle in our gardens<\/span><\/h2>\n

Enjoy the Romancing the Monarch festival each year on the first Saturday of October from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Lake Granbury Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, 1410 W. Pearl St., Granbury, 76048.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Come and learn how to care for the Monarch through its entire lifecycle through the plants you choose for your garden. Learn more about milkweed and nectar plants as well as how to spot a monarch from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis, to mature adult butterfly!<\/span><\/p>\n

Each fall, hundreds of millions of Monarchs complete an incredible migration from the United States and Canada to the mountains in Mexico to wait out the winter.\u00a0 The Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale community science project started in 1994 with the goal of understanding the Monarch migration better.<\/p>\n

Attending the Romancing the Monarch festival will empower you with the knowledge you need to plant your own butterfly garden. A Monarch butterfly garden must contain milkweed (the only host plant for Monarch caterpillars) and nectar plants to feed the adult Monarchs.<\/p>\n
