Shade Garden Bed
Shade Garden Bed
The Shade Garden embraces a naturalistic woodland design that encourages wildlife and utilizes both dappled and full shade in multiple plant layers. The Shade Garden includes trees, shrubs, ferns and ground covers that thrive without full sun. A bubbling fountain supplies water to visiting wildlife and provides soothing sounds.
Favorite Plants in this bed:
White Mistflower - Ageratina Havenensis
With sprays of clustered white flowers in the fall, White Mistflower grows well in morning sun with afternoon shade. Native to Texas and Mexico, White Mistflower attracts many butterflies, including fall migrating Monarchs.
Oakleaf Hydrangea - Hydrangea quercifolia
Flower clusters begin green, mature to white and fade to pink in fall. Drought and heat tolerant once established, a couple of extra inches of mulch at the roots will help it survive the winter cold.
