Hummingbird Garden Bed

Hummingbird Garden Bed

Hummingbirds are attracted to the color red, so red flowers are a must to entice hummingbirds to explore the garden. Once they come, they feast on the nectar offered by the other flowers. Nectar plants such as Salvias and Turk’s Cap are especially favored, as well as Phlox, Esperanza and Columbine

Favorite Plants in this bed:

Esperanza ‘Gold Star’ - Tecoma stans ‘Gold Star’

The Esperanza attracts both hummingbirds and pollinating insects. The bumblebees in the garden are especially attracted to the bright yellow flowers and climb all the way into the flowers, leaving just their back legs showing

For more information on how to attract and feed hummingbirds, see the Texas A&M AgriLife  guide.
